Revive (The Mammut Repair Team) focused on implementing a better repair system within the company. We identified two main problems at the start of our research: among the items we received at the beginning of the semester, we found a lot of returned and unrepairable jackets, some of which deserved a second chance. We sent a jacket back to be repaired, and we realised the process was very long and complicated. Overview

As part of Revive, a design collaboration between our team and the Mammut Sports Group, we worked alongside the Mammut Repair Team to reimagine the company’s repair ecosystem. The project aimed to reduce product returns, improve the repair experience, and support Mammut’s long-term sustainability goals through design innovation.

The Challenge

Our research surfaced two major issues: a significant number of returned jackets were labeled “unrepairable,” and the existing repair process was lengthy, unclear, and inefficient. The challenge was to meet Mammut’s high-quality standards while introducing a system that made repairs faster, more engaging, and accessible, both functionally and emotionally, for customers.

The Solution

We redesigned the repair section of Mammut’s website, creating a user-friendly interface that clearly communicates repair costs, turnaround times, and feasibility, minimizing unnecessary communication and saving time for both users and the repair team. Also with Experience Patches, we introduced a set of modular, mountain-inspired patches that transform damage into a personal design feature. These upcycling tools allow users to repair, customize, or even learn to fix their own garments, reinforcing a sense of ownership and connection to their outdoor gear.

The Result

Our solution delivered a dual-impact outcome: a streamlined digital repair journey and a tangible repair toolkit rooted in storytelling and sustainability. By merging functionality with emotional design, the Revive project helped Mammut turn product longevity into a user-driven experience, reducing waste, enhancing brand loyalty, and reinforcing their commitment to circular design
